4 Coupon Apps to Help you Save Money

Save money with coupons

As promised, I learned how to coupon this week! Unfortunately, the store we grocery shop at doesn’t take external coupons and the purchases don’t apply to any specific rebate app. That doesn’t mean I didn’t learn about the apps that were out there and how to utilize the store’s weekly ad to build our menu for the week.

First things first. If you have a Lidl near you, check it out! We have been going to Lidl for about 3 years now and it has been such a game changer for saving money on groceries. We are especially appreciative for it as prices have soared these last few months. We try to make our weekly grocery shopping a family event on Sunday mornings. In reality, it consists of one of us chasing our son around while the other hurries and grabs the groceries like an episode of Supermarket Sweep. As hectic as it is, we do enjoy going together and laugh about the never ending energy our little dude has.

Lets check out what apps are great to use as well as what our shopping haul looked liked this week.

Coupon Apps

I have used rebate and coupon apps in the past, but not as of late. As mentioned, I unfortunately couldn’t utilize them for our groceries since most of Lidl’s products that we purchased are their own brand. In addition, they don’t accept any external coupons. Based on my research, these are some great apps that I am going to use for shopping outside of groceries (hi there Target).

Rakuten | This is a cash-back app and is great for your every day purchases. If you join today, you get $10 bonus when you spend $25.

Honey | This is a browser extension that helps search for any coupon codes for items you are looking to purchase

Coupons.com | You can access paper-less coupons as well recieve cashback on certain items.

Ibotta | This is a very similar app to Rakuten. You can scan everyday items and earn cash back. If you join today, you get a $15 bonus when you spend $50.

Our Weekly Haul

Take a peek at some of the items we purchased this week. I provided the price we paid against that of a local competitor. Note that we did take advantage of some of the specials that they were advertising that week. As you can see, there a pretty significant difference between the two. This does not even include our higher ticket items like chicken breasts.
